Rinda Bauldwin Monie joined the African Center for Science and International Security (AFRICSIS) as Website Manager in January 2014. Concurrent to his position at AFRICSIS, he is a second year graduate student of Computer Engineering at New Mexico State University, USA. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute in Ukraine (2011-2015). He holds also holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Thermal and Energetic Engineering from Cameroon’s Institute of Technology at the University of Ngoundere (2009-2011).
Monie’s interests and expertise include web programming with focus on cloud computing and Human Machine Interface (HMI) for SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems involving critical infrastructures. He has advanced working knowledge of data modeling, database design concepts, web application engineering and debugging. He has website development skills and programming abilities in MySQL, C++, C#, HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript.
Monie belongs to many professional organizations and participates in international conferences relevant to cyber security and safety issues of critical infrastructures. He is an organizing committee member of the inter-university PERSIK conference at the Department of Computer Systems and Network at Kharkiv Aviation Institute. He is one of the founders of the International Safety and Security club in his present university, which enhances knowledge sharing among aerospace, avionics and computer engineering students on critical infrastructure safety and security issues including stuxnet cyber-attacks, Fukoshima nuclear accident analysis and airplane crashes.
He attends and participates in many international scientific conferences and workshops including the international Critical Infrastructure Safety and Security (CrISS-DESSERT’13) conference. He presented on “Information Technology Impact on Instrumentation and Control of Small Modular Reactors: Future Trends Analysis” at the 2013 V International Scientific-Technical Conference “Nuclear Power Plant Instrumentation and Control Systems: Safety Aspects” in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
