18-22 April 2016, Accra, Ghana
The African Centre for Science and International Security (AFRICSIS) and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) will offer a capacity building workshop on nuclear security and non-proliferation for representatives of government agencies, universities and research institutions in Africa. The workshop will be held in Accra, Ghana on April 18–22, 2016. The workshop modules will be taught in English by prominent professors and experts from CNS, international organizations, and national governments.
The primary objective of the workshop is to provide practitioners, scientists, technicians, and faculty members with a solid understanding of nuclear security and non-proliferation regimes, policies, as well as implementation challenges, and the necessary tools and mechanisms to address them. The workshop aims to equip the participants with the knowledge and analytical tools that enhance the ability to contribute to strengthening nuclear security system and non-proliferation regime at national, regional, and global levels.
This is a tuition-free workshop which also offers travel and accommodation support for selected participants. To be considered for selection, interested persons should submit an application. The deadline for applications is March 11, 2016, but parties are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications must include:
1) A resume or CV
2) A letter of interest
3) A nomination or support letter from an applicant’s organization
