The Memorandum aims to develop and strengthen cooperation in the fields of national legal framework, national policy, and institutional mechanisms regarding CBRN safety, safeguards, and security. One short-term goal of the Memorandum is for ISTC and AFRICSIS to partner in the implementation of Project MC5.01/B15 Support to the Southern African States in Nuclear Safety and Safeguards. Funded under the EU Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC) and implemented by ISTC, this three-year long project (2016-2019) involves four countries – Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, and Zambia.
