Christopher MacNeil is a fellow at AFRICSIS since September 2017. He is incorporating work with AFRICSIS into his Master's degree program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey California, USA. Christopher academically and professionally focuses on nonproliferation related matters. Previously, under the United States Peace Corps, he served in various capacities and institutions between 2012 and 2015 in Ethiopia including at the Jimma University External Relations and Communications Office and Jimma University College of Law and Governance.
Before joining the United States Peace Corps, Christopher worked on human rights at refugee organizations including Jewish Vocational Services and Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights, in Boston, Massachusetts. At AFRICSIS, Christopher activities include research and publication of relevant policy reports on African specific proliferation issues. His interest includes building cross linkage relations between organizations in Africa and the United States to leverage resources and develop nonproliferation networks. He has a advanced working proficiency in Spanish and Afan Oromo languages. He also has basic speaking proficiency in Amharic.
Currently, Christopher is pursuing an M.A. in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies, Financial Crime Management Specialization at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Monterey, CA. He received his B.A. in International Relations from Boston University, USA in 2011.
